BX series long-range background suppression photoelectric sensor with cable

Four Metres From One Side — Why That Matters

At pallet-conveyor and sorting-line distances, the usual options are a through-beam pair (two devices, two cable runs) or a retro-reflective sensor (one device plus a reflector that must be mounted, aligned and kept clean). The BX-H4000 removes the far side entirely: background suppression gives it a 50–4000 mm adjustable window from a single housing, and whatever stands beyond the window — racking, walls, passing forklifts — is rejected by distance rather than by luck.

Two diffuse stablemates cover the 2 m class with different optics: the BX-G2000 throws a wide, visible red LED spot that tolerates uneven or wandering targets, while the BX-S2000 condenses a 2–3 mm laser spot you can see and aim at one exact feature. All three respond in 2 ms and run on DC12–24V.

Common ratings: 2 ms response, DC12–24V supply. IP ingress rating and temperature range are not published for this series — contact the factory before specifying for dusty, wet or outdoor positions.

Note: general-purpose detection sensors, not IEC 61496-certified safety components — do not use them alone for personnel protection.

Typical Applications

Pallet & Unit-Load Presence

Detect pallets on conveyor lanes and AS/RS positions from one side — no reflector plate to mount, clean or replace.

Parcel Detection on Sorting Lines

The adjustable window covers boxes of any colour at long mounting distances; 2 ms response keeps count at line speed.

Vehicle / Trolley Position at Gates

Single-sided mounting suits doorways and transfer cars where opposite-side wiring is impractical.

Precise Long-Reach Positioning (BX-S2000)

The visible 2–3 mm laser spot doubles as an alignment aid and pins detection to one exact feature.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far can the BX series detect without a reflector?

The BX-H4000 detects from 50 mm up to 4000 mm from one side using invisible infrared light and background suppression. The diffuse BX-G2000 and BX-S2000 cover 30–2000 mm. None of the three needs a reflector or an opposite-side receiver.

Why choose BGS at long range instead of a retro-reflective sensor?

A retro-reflective sensor needs a reflector mounted, aligned and kept clean on the far side. The BX-H4000 reaches comparable distances entirely from one side, and its distance window rejects walls or racking behind the detection point — useful in aisles where the 'background' is constantly changing.

What is the difference between BX-G2000 and BX-S2000?

Both are 30–2000 mm diffuse reflective sensors. The G2000 projects a wide visible-red LED spot that is easy to aim and forgiving on uneven or slightly shifting targets; the S2000 projects a 2–3 mm visible laser spot for pinpoint detection of a specific feature at range.

Does target colour affect the switching distance?

For the BX-H4000 the manual specifies minimal black/white distance variation within 2000 mm, so dark and light loads switch at close to the same point in that zone. Beyond 2000 mm, allow margin for dark, low-reflectivity targets.

What outputs are available and can I change N.O./N.C. on site?

The BX-H4000 comes in confirmed NPN and PNP versions; BX-G2000 and BX-S2000 are confirmed NPN (ask us about PNP availability before ordering). On all models the output logic is switchable via the white wire, so one unit covers both logics.

Can the BX series be used outdoors or in washdown areas?

No IP ingress rating is published for the BX series, so specify it for dry indoor mounting positions, or contact the factory to confirm protection level before using it anywhere with dust or water exposure.

Is this a safety-rated sensor for personnel detection?

No. The BX series is a general-purpose detection family, not an IEC 61496-certified safety component, and must not be used alone for personnel protection. Use a certified safety light curtain or safety laser scanner for guarding.

How do I get a quotation or samples?

Send the model (H4000 / G2000 / S2000), output type and quantity via our contact page. Factory-direct pricing, samples for evaluation and OEM marking are available; certification documents on request.
