PZ-LX101 Color Mark Sensor
One contrast sensor for both mark polarities: flip a switch when the artwork flips, and keep the web in register.
- Light-ON / Dark-ON selectable on the unit
- 8–25 mm sensing range, 17 mm depth-of-field tolerance
- MARK mode + C/C1 mode on one hardware
- Single NPN output — simple, direct PLC wiring
- 12–24 VDC, matches standard cabinet supplies

Registration and Correction Without the Changeover Tax
Print jobs change; the machine stays. Yesterday the web carried a dark eyemark on light film, today it is a light mark on a dark laminate — and a sensor locked to one polarity suddenly needs rewiring or a PLC edit at every job change. The PZ-LX101 keeps the changeover on the sensor itself: a Light-ON / Dark-ON selector flips the output logic in seconds, so positioning, cut-off and correction loops on packaging, labeling, printing and slitting equipment keep running whichever way the artwork contrast goes.
Mechanically it is equally forgiving: the 8–25 mm sensing range gives installers a 17 mm depth-of-field window, absorbing bracket tolerance and normal web movement without constant re-tuning. Two operating modes — MARK for classic registration work and C/C1 for its documented alternate duty — run on the same single-NPN-output hardware, powered from the 12–24 VDC rail already in the cabinet.
Light-ON vs Dark-ON, Visualized
The same received-light signal, two selectable interpretations: Dark-ON fires on a dark mark against a light background, Light-ON fires on a light mark against a dark background — set by a switch, not by a different part number.

We deliberately do not print unverified response-time or IP figures — request the confirmed datasheet before specifying for high-speed or washdown duty. The PZ-LX101 is a detection sensor, not an IEC 61496 certified safety component, and must not be used on its own for personnel protection.
Typical Web & Line Duties
Bag & Pouch Machines
Trigger cutting and sealing in register with the printed pattern, whichever polarity the eyemark is printed in.
Labeling Lines
Detect label print marks to place each label at the right position on high-speed applicators.
Printing & Slitting
Feed correction and alignment loops with MARK-mode contrast detection to keep the web tracking true.
Hygiene & Flexible Packaging
Cover frequent artwork changes on converting lines without stocking polarity-specific sensor variants.
Frequently Asked Questions
The artwork changed from a black mark on white film to a white mark on dark film — do I need a different sensor?
No. The PZ-LX101's output logic flips between Light-ON and Dark-ON with a switch on the unit, so the same sensor handles either mark polarity without rewiring the PLC input or editing the program. That is precisely the changeover headache it was designed to remove.
How much mounting tolerance do I get?
The sensing range is 8–25 mm with a 17 mm depth-of-field window. Brackets do not have to be machined to a single exact gap, and normal web flutter inside that band does not force re-teaching.
What operating modes does it have, and which should I use?
Two: MARK mode for standard registration (contrast) detection, and C/C1 mode, each with its own rated response time. Use MARK mode for eyemark and correction duties; confirm the intended C/C1 use case with us before specifying it for your machine.
Is the response time fast enough for my line speed?
MARK and C/C1 modes carry separately rated response times, and the source documentation shows a units inconsistency we refuse to guess around — for high-speed lines, request the confirmed response-time figures from the factory before finalizing the design. We would rather send you the verified number than print a wrong one.
Does a PNP version exist?
The confirmed datasheet lists a single NPN output with the Light-ON/Dark-ON selector. A PNP or NO/NC-switchable variant has not been confirmed for this model — if your controls require PNP, ask us to check current availability or consider the switchable JNS-W70/W500, or the FS-S72P if its 18–28 mm range fits.
Is PZ-LX101 the same as the "JNS-LX101" listed on some sites?
Not confirmed. A similarly named JNS-LX101 with different sensing distance and output specs appears elsewhere, but we have not verified it as the same product, so this page describes only the PZ-LX101 as documented.
How do I order, and what about certifications and IP rating?
Contact the factory with your web material, mark polarity and mounting distance; samples for line trials, quotation and lead time are provided on request. The IP rating has not been confirmed in current documentation — ask before specifying washdown areas. Certification documents available on request. Not an IEC 61496 certified safety component.
