One Device, Two Model Codes
DLDS2030A-5S is the designation used on earlier shipments of the 20 m obstacle-avoidance scanning radar that our catalogue now lists as the DLD20A5 series. The physical device, mounting pattern and accessory line did not change — only the naming did. We keep this page alive so a maintenance engineer holding an old unit can identify it, pull the right specification, and order a matching replacement without archaeology.
Under either name, this is a 2D time-of-flight scanner built to switch, not to stream: it watches up to 16 configurable zone sets across its 270° window and drives three discrete outputs plus a status line — warning, slow-down, stop — directly into vehicle or machine control circuits. Current-code orders are DLD20A5-5N (NPN) or DLD20A5-5P (PNP).

At 0.1° resolution, scan points sit roughly 35 mm apart at the 20 m edge — slim objects (posts, cables, a leg) near maximum range deserve the finer setting or a closer backup sensor. Values the factory has not published (per-accessory functions, range reflectivity basis) are flagged, not filled in. Certification documents are available on request.

I have a DLDS2030A-5S in service — what do I order as a replacement?
Order the current designation: DLD20A5-5N if your control wiring is NPN (sinking), or DLD20A5-5P for PNP (sourcing). The hardware is the same device as your DLDS2030A-5S; only the model code moved on. Quote your original code with the inquiry and we will match the replacement like-for-like, including output polarity, so the swap is unplugged-and-replugged rather than re-engineered.
What does this scanner actually put out — data or switching signals?
Pure switching. It carries three discrete outputs plus one status output (rated DC 30 V, 50 mA max per switch), driven by whichever of the 16 zone sets is active. There is no Ethernet or fieldbus data channel of any kind. If your project needs point-cloud data, move to the DLD50T8 (I/O + Ethernet) or DLD-50D (Ethernet only) platforms instead.
How are the three outputs typically used on a vehicle?
As staged reactions across nested zones: the outermost zone raises a warning lamp or horn, the middle zone commands a slow-down, and the innermost zone commands a stop. Because 16 zone sets are stored, the nest of three can be reshaped per operating state — narrower while turning, longer while running straight — selected by the machine control.
Is the 20 m maximum range valid on dark targets?
Treat that as an open point, honestly flagged: the published 0.05–20 m figure does not state a target-reflectivity basis, unlike our newer LiDARs whose ranges are quoted at 90% and 10% remission separately. On dark, low-reflectivity targets the practical range can be materially shorter. Ask us for the reflectivity basis before finalizing zone sizes, and build in margin for dark scenes.
Can I use the DLDS2030A-5S / DLD20A5 for personnel protection?
No. This is a perception/measurement LiDAR, not an IEC 61496 certified safety component; do not use it as the sole means of personnel protection. Its outputs are ordinary discrete switches, not OSSDs, and no Type/SIL/PL rating is published. Where a person must be protected by the scanner, specify the ST27 Type 3 safety laser scanner and calculate the field per ISO 13855.
What accessories exist for this scanner?
A dedicated six-item factory accessory line, DLDS-1 through DLDS-6, covering mounting and connection needs.
