Built for Color-Difference Sorting, Not Just Color Detection

Most photoelectric sensors answer “is something there?”. The CZ-V1 answers a harder question: “is it the right color?” — and it answers it fast enough to sort. The amplifier compares each passing target against up to four taught reference colors and discriminates among more than 1,000 colors, so shade drift between raw-material batches, mixed-up variants after a changeover, or a wrong-color cap in a filler infeed all get flagged at the station where they can still be pulled.

It is an amplifier-separate platform: the CZ-V1 (NPN) or CZ-V1P (PNP) amplifier pairs with interchangeable sensor heads — small-spot, long-range large-spot, or short-range small-spot — so the optics are matched to your mounting distance and target size while the control side stays identical across stations. Three detection modes (C / C+I / I) and two response settings (200 μs HSP / 1 ms FINE) let one part number cover both fast sorting and steady verification duty. Runs on a standard 12–24 VDC control-cabinet supply.

Reflected light is decomposed into R, G and B components; the amplifier compares the ratio against up to four taught reference colors and switches the selected channel output ON on match — or on mismatch, if configured for reject logic.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fine a color difference can the CZ-V1 separate?

The CZ-V1 amplifier discriminates more than 1,000 colors, which is enough resolution to separate shade variants that look nearly identical to the eye — for example two batches of the same plastic part moulded from slightly different masterbatch lots. If you need to resolve even subtler shades, the 8-channel CZ-V21 (3,000+ colors) is the step-up model.

How many reject/accept colors can one CZ-V1 handle?

Up to four target colors can be taught into a single amplifier across its 4 channels. On a sorting station this means one CZ-V1 can replace up to four single-color sensors, each channel driving its own accept or reject decision.

Should I order CZ-V1 or CZ-V1P?

CZ-V1 is the NPN open-collector version (max. 40 VDC / 100 mA) for sinking PLC inputs; CZ-V1P is the PNP version for sourcing inputs. Check your PLC input card before ordering — the two are separate part numbers, not a switchable setting.

Can the output trigger a reject gate directly when a wrong color passes?

Yes. The output logic is selectable between match (ON when the color matches the taught reference) and mismatch (ON when it does not match), so a mismatch-configured channel can drive a reject solenoid or NG alarm line without an inversion rung in the PLC.

Is the CZ-V1 fast enough for a high-speed sorting line?

In HSP mode the response time is 200 μs; FINE mode slows to 1 ms in exchange for a steadier reading on difficult targets. For most cap-sorting, label-check and error-proofing stations, HSP mode comfortably keeps up with line speed.

What sensor heads work with this amplifier?

The CZ-V1 is an amplifier-separate design compatible with interchangeable heads: small-spot, long-range large-spot, and short-range small-spot types. Tell us your mounting distance and target size and we will match the head; note that no luster-cancellation head is listed for this amplifier — for glossy or metallic surfaces use the CZ-V21 with its CZ-C37 head.

What is the MOQ, lead time and documentation for export orders?

Small trial quantities are accepted for evaluation before volume orders. Lead time depends on the head configuration — contact the factory with your target quantity for a firm quotation, current datasheet and certification documents. IP rating and operating-temperature figures are supplied with the latest datasheet on request.
