A no-blind-zone safety light curtain for industrial automation. Working Principle

DQO forms a synchronized array of infrared beams between the emitter and receiver. When any beam is interrupted, the internal safety logic switches OSSD outputs to OFF, and the connected safety relay/PLC removes motive power. The blind-spot-free window ensures coverage up to the end caps.

  1. Emission & reception: modulated IR LED; receiver filters spurious light.
  2. Beam sequencing: emitter and receiver stay in step so each beam is evaluated in turn.

Frequently Asked Questions

What safety type / performance level does the DQO carry?

The DQO is a through-beam opto-electronic protective device (AOPD) — a product category designed with reference to IEC 61496 and to the machinery-safety standards ISO 13849 / ISO 13855. DAIDISIKE has not published a type classification (Type 2 / Type 4) or a performance level for the DQO series, so none is claimed here; request the current test documentation from the factory before specifying the DQO into a rated safety function. Where a documented Type 4 / PL e / SIL 3 device is required, use the DQT4 series. The final PL or SIL of the complete safety function is validated by the integrator in any case, including stopping time and ISO 13855 safety distance.

Which resolution should I choose for finger protection?

Use the 10 mm resolution for finger protection at the point of operation, 20 mm for palm or hand detection on packaging and access openings, and 30 mm for arm and body presence on perimeters and aisles. Protective height H = (n − 1) × K, where n is the beam count and K is the resolution.

How do I wire the outputs in NPN or PNP?

The DQO uses transistor outputs ordered by model suffix: A = NPN NC, B = PNP NC, C = NPN NO, D = PNP NO. Wiring is by two 7-core cables. Connect both channels to independent inputs on a safety relay or safety PLC, and use the EDM (external device monitoring) feedback loop to confirm the contactors drop out before each restart.

Can the DQO replace an Omron, SICK deTec or Keyence light curtain?

In many cases yes, mechanically. The DQO offers 10/20/30 mm resolutions, a 0.3–3 m detection distance (0.3–6 m optional), ≤15 ms response, IP65 and NPN/PNP transistor outputs, so it can serve as a quality equivalent. Match the resolution, protective height and output type to the unit being replaced and re-verify the ISO 13855 safety distance. Where the original carried a certified Type/PL rating, confirm the equivalent documentation with the factory.

What is the detection distance and what does blind-spot-free mean?
